Whether you're a new mother running on zero sleep and constant concerns about your baby's health, or a seasoned pro who still grapples with mom guilt and spends nights caught up in kids' school projects, one things for certain: parenting is not for the faint-hearted. Throw in some work deadlines, a heap of endless laundry and dishes and a dash of pressure to “do it all” and you’ve got yourself the perfect recipe for a nervous breakdown. Fun times.
But despite its challenges, motherhood is truly one of life's most magical experiences. It's in the sleepy snuggles, the belly laughs, and those unexpected special moments of joy between you and your little one that make it all worthwhile. That is why it is essential to take care of our mental well-being as we embark on or continue this journey. When we learn to manage stress and pressure in healthy ways, we can fully embrace the joy of parenting and become the best parents we can be for our kids. After all, healthy parents raise healthy kids. So, here are my absolute favourite apps that have made me better equipped at handling the beautiful chaos of motherhood and transformed me into a more grounded, present and (mostly) sane mom for my kids.
Finch

Available on: Android & iOS
This wholesome app allows you to nurture a little bird, helping it grow by completing manageable and feasible self-care goals. It kicks off with with a thorough questionnaire about yourself to take into consideration things like mental illnesses, current state of mind and lifestyle to personalise your journey to wellness. I absolutely adore my little 'munchkin' and he's always keeping me on track, helping me better manage my stress and anxiety, and find a routine within the chaos of motherhood. Unlike other apps I have tried, Finch does an excellent job at personalising your experience and ensuring that it understands your emotional and physical needs before setting goals. You can even customise your bird's personality! This app is super adorable and has helped me maintain a more peaceful state of mind.
Gratitude: Self-Care Journal

This app is like an expansion of my favourite feature of 'Finch', which is the gratitude jar. 'Gratitude' provides you with daily gratitude prompts that encourage you to be more mindful and thankful of the small good things in life. What I absolutely love about this app is that their prompts are very specific and force me to search for the magic in the mundane. Plus, the affirmations and daily quotes which are tailor made for you are fantastic for maintaining a positive mindset throughout the day.
Serene

Available on: Android & iOS
'Serene' is an awesome app which tracks your mental well-being, helping you overcome things like procrastination, uncover hidden traumas and learn more about yourself and your personality with psychologically proven tests. You are able to track your mood patterns and there are loads of personalised daily courses to guide you through your mental wellness journey, like understanding childhood trauma, ADHD, coping mechanisms and so much more. The courses and tests feel very educational and are backed by real psychological evidence. This is definitely one of my favourite apps on my phone, and has ensured that I still take care of myself and prioritise my mental well-being whilst tackling motherhood.
Pura mente: Sleep & Meditation

Available on: Android & iOS
Pura mente is a delightful app which guides you through meditation and mindfulness practices. There are various guide lengths to choose from so that meditation can fit throughout any busy schedule, even if it's just for 5 minutes before driving the kids to school, or up to 40 minutes before bed. What I love most about these meditation guides is that the voice-overs are done in the most gentle and calming voices which helps relax my mind and body and allows me to be more present. Additionally, they've got premium features which include sleep stories for adults and for kids, as well as soothing music to aid with sleep and relaxation. This has definitely been a necessary addition to my hectic life.
Good Coffee, Great Coffee

Available on: Android & iOS
A little different from the other apps in this list is 'Good Coffee, Great Coffee', a cozy café simulation game with a charming story that begins with a new brewist arriving in town. Your objective? Serve up the best lattes and espressos to earn the trust and support of the townfolk. I adore this game for it's wonderfully laid-back atmosphere, perfect for unwinding at the end of the day and transporting me into a cozy children's-storybook-like realm. This game stands out for calming it is without the chaos and overstimulation found in a lot of other simulation games, making it perfect for late nights before bed. I would highly recommend this cute game for parents and children.
